want to leave the CCL - Libertarian Culture Center
Libertarian Culture Center is an anarchist space there for 35 years, and is threatened with eviction by the owner.
The CCL is a cultural Athenaeum was founded in 1974 by anarchist militants old libertarians who resisted the dictatorship of Salazar, taking from there leased space at the street number 121, Cândido dos Reis Cacilhas (Almada, Portugal). This is a critical space for anarchism in Portugal, receiving several generations of libertarians. The Center has a library and a unique file in Portugal, with anarchist material published during the last hundred years, and also a distributor of libertarian culture. Be secondary in its existence, the Center hosted several activities such as debates, films or passage of the most varied workshops. Several publications were published here, such as "A Voice Anarchist in the 70's, the" Antítese "in the 80's, the" Boletim de Informações anarchists "in the nineties, and" humus "to this day.
In January 2009, was introduced by the owner of block-clearing action against the Center. This action was contested by legal means, which resulted in a trial that took place between September and October. In the Nov. 2, was issued the ruling that resulted in the term of the mortgage contract, I tend been given a deadline of 20 days to leave the Centre facilities.
The CCL will answer this decision. In this new phase is necessary to support costs with respect to the action and attorney fees. To date, no one knows the amount needed but, as we learned, will need to collect a long hundred euros.
The origin of this case is not unique Libertarian Culture Center, but all / as those / as they are bundled with unscrupulous tenants and other real estate speculators. Is important to remember that even the process was initiated alleging excessive noise from those who frequent the Centre, there are other interests at stake, such as profit from the tenant in the space, renting with an income substantially higher than the current.
The loss of this center would mean the loss of an important space for reflection, debate, struggle and resistance.
A sketch of the / as peers who fought for this space there will resist again and not lose the CCL, or the hands of the courts, or the speculation, or anything.
